Using Stencils
Stencilling was a technique I learnt in Level 3 Graphic Design, since then have applied outside of the classroom. I now use that technique to create patterns and different designs on shoes which developed into a side business that I run.
Digital Concepts
Before I start painting a shoe, I start by planning out the design I want to create, so that my idea is on a paper & not just stuck in my head. This sometimes starts as a sketch however I usually go straight into photoshop as it helps me visualise the colours & how well everything goes together. On the left there are a few examples of digital concepts I’ve done.
Final Shoe Designs
Here are the final shoe designs for the digital concepts that I designed above. I used 2 different stencilling techniques to create the designs for these 3 shoes. For the first shoe I used strips of tape and painted within the gaps that the strips of tape created. however for the second and third designs I stuck down the symbols, aligned into my desired pattern and painted round the symbols to create the design.
